Get Out!
It all started with a passion; a passion to help women and children in need of assistance when wanting to escape domestic abuse. It ended with realizing that EVERYONE needed support escaping with their lives, no matter the gender.

If I only knew then…
When starting this project, I was set out to help women escape their abusers. I searched high and low on the web & the Apple App Store to find limited apps that focus on helping someone escape their abusers. And, like myself, the focused solely on helping women and children.
The research doesn’t lie…
After conducting an unmoderated Usability Study with 8 participants, my feedback was astounding. The participants, all genders, made it clear that my thought process was not inclusive. Everyone is need of a helping hand and escaping abuse is a time when a hand can take someone far.
Getting help fast…
The main goal of the app was for someone to be able to access help quickly. They needed to know how to assess danger, find help if they were in danger, & where to go when they were ready.
Change starts with us…
Something as simple as changing “he” to “partner” made a difference in the audience that this app could reach. As I found in my research, emergency shelters have, also, made a difference by accepting all genders because women, men, non-binary, & trans all experience abuse.
Responsive Websites
To complement the app, I designed the website to help foster change & hope by encouraging people to donate, volunteer, add their organizations so we could reach more people.
